PipeCleaner Tiara
You'll need 4 12" pipe cleaners - and assorted beads with holes big enough to fit on the pipe cleaners.
Twist 2 of the pipe cleaners together to make the headband part that will fit on the ' head.
String the beads on the other two pipe cleaners and wrap and twist them around the headband to create a Tiara effect. It's simple, and easy for kids to do.
Princess Photo Frame (looks like a medieval hat - tall pointed with scarf at end)
What You Need
Lavender craft foam (or pink)
Tulip glitter (in bottle)
Curling ribbon in various pastel colors
Scissors
Scrap piece of acetate/plastic (see tips)
Tacky glue
Flat magnet
Paper
Pen
Small photograph such as a school small wallet sized
Large circle punch (1" to 2" size) , optional
How To Make It
Draw the princess hat on paper. It is just a tall triangle. Cut off the tip of the triangle so the streamers will be able to come out the top.
Cut out the pattern.
Draw around the pattern on the craft foam the pen. Draw 2 hats.
Cut out both hats.
On one hat only, either hole punch for a picture or use your paper and pen to draw a circle pattern. Then cut out the circle on the craft foam with your scissors.
Cut the acetate to fit behind the hole in the princess hat.
Glue just around the hole and place the acetate on it.
Cut streamers from different colors of curling ribbon. You can either leave the streamers long or you can cut them shorter and curl them using the blade of the scissors.
Glue one end of each of the streamers to the inside of the back of the hat.
Glue the front of the hat to the back of the hat. Be sure to add extra glue on top of the streamers so the hat will adhere at the top. Be sure to leave a space on the side so you can slip the picture in behind the acetate.
Glue a magnet on the back of the frame.
Use the glitter paint to paint on squiggles or stars on the hat.
Let dry.
Cut your favorite picture (with permission, of course) to fit the princess hat frame and slip inside.
Place on your refrigerator, metal file cabinet, but be sure to keep magnets away from your computer and computer disks!
Tips
The use of the acetate or plastic is to protect your photograph, especially if you put it in the kitchen. You can use the plastic "window" in a spaghetti box, plastic that holds something you buy (such as our marker box), or some leftover transparency paper. You'll find lots of things that come packaged in plastic that would have a small flat area you could cut up for frame windows.
